Horsemanship
Since 1897, Culver’s Horsemanship Program has been teaching students the qualities of wisdom, courage, moderation, and justice by placing them in the saddle. Cavalry soldiers are no longer in demand so the Horsemanship Department has developed a progressive curriculum designed to develop character and leadership while learning to control and manage the horse. The Department of Horsemanship is a proud member of the elite Culver Summer School “Center of Excellence” .
The Jud Little '65 Scholarship Program
The Jud Little '65 Scholarship Program is one of the most extraordinary programs in the country for high school students with a significant interest in horsemanship. Offering full tuition coverage and more, this scholarship's total value is more than $200,000.
All students from Oklahoma who apply to Culver and meet the scholarship eligibility criteria will automatically be considered for the Jud Little Scholarship. Complete your application for admission and financial aid by January 15 in order to receive full consideration.
About Jud Little '65
Oklahoma rancher and oilman Jud Little was a 1965 graduate of Culver Military Academy and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Finance and Commerce. He was a past president of the Culver Legion, the alumni organization that represents the 12,000 graduates of Culver Military Academy and Culver Girls Academy and served on the Culver Educational Foundation Board of Trustees.
Little was a 2004 inductee into Culver’s Horsemanship Hall of Fame and was co-chairman of the Academies’ Horsemanship Capital Campaign. His Jud Little Horse Ranch in Ardmore specializes in breeding horses for timed rodeo events, such as barrel racing and calf roping.

- An academic record of achievement that ensures success in Culver's highly competitive college preparatory curriculum.
- Those characteristics and traits that suggest the successful candidate will participate fully in Culver's leadership development program.
- Financial need.
How are Jud Little Scholars Selected?
- Semi-Finalists are selected from all candidates who have completed the Culver Academies Application Process and have submitted a Merit Scholarship Application by January 15.
- Finalists are selected by the Little Scholarship Selection Committee.
- Scholars are notified by the Little Scholarship Committee.
Who is Eligible?
- Incoming 9th and 10th grade boys and girls.
- US citizens residing in Oklahoma.
